Chicora Borough recently took action easing the burden on taxpayers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Council passed Resolution 2020-02 permitting taxes to be paid at “face value” without penalty through Nov. 30, according to Joanna Fair, borough secretary/ treasurer.

[naviga:h3]Street cleaning set in Butler[/naviga:h3]

Parking will be restricted Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on eight streets in Butler for street cleaning.

The streets are Dubois, Maharg, Wren, W. Diamond and W. Wayne streets, and Ridge, Hilltop and Goldwood avenues.

[naviga:h3]Benefit dinner raises about $13K[/naviga:h3]

Almost $13,000 was raised at a benefit spaghetti dinner and basket raffle held July 11 for Cheyenne Widenhofer, a 13-year-old Ford City resident who developed vasculitis in April.

The event was held at the Herman Volunteer Fire Company hall, where more than 100 donated raffle baskets were available for bidding.

Others donated ingredients for the dinner, desserts and disposable silver ware.

Widenhofer’s father, Tim, is a resident of Summit Township. He expressed his appreciation to all who donated, attended the spaghetti dinner or bid on raffle baskets.
