Burger 50th anniversary

Susan and John Burger

John H. and Susan F. Burger of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage July 11. A family dinner celebration was postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burger married the former Susan Fullerton on July 11, 1970, at the Grace Methodist Church in Natrona Heights with the Rev. Robert Harlan Airns officiating.

They have five children, Nancy Burger of Natrona Heights, Johnny Burger of Butler, Tom Burger of Canton, Mich., Gretchen Lavery of Butler, and Emily Smock of Williamsport.

They also have 12 grandchildren.

Burger began his successful career in 1964 as a mechanical engineer with Armco, working his way up the ranks and retiring in 2003 as an engineering administrative manager at AK Steel. He then worked on and off from 2003-2018 as a contracted engineer for D and D Drafting and Design.

He enjoys working in the yard, reading, music, fishing and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s various sporting events.

Mrs. Burger was a homemaker raising five children and five grandchildren. She has a heart for animals and loves the garden, cooking and baking. She volunteered and participated at Camp Kon-O-Kwee’s quilt retreats since 1991.
