Memorial Day rally will start at 1 p.m.
The Memorial Day rally being planned in Diamond Park in Butler will begin at 1 p.m. Monday. The rally was originally scheduled to begin at noon, but organizers said the event’s start time was being pushed back an hour.
The grassroots effort to hold an event of some sort grew from the county canceling the annual Memorial Day Parade because the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation would not issue a parade permit due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings.
Organizers are trying to get the names of military veterans from Butler County who died since last Memorial Day so those names can be read aloud during the rally.
Motorcycle groups from several American Legion posts are expected to attend.
