Police ID drivers injured in crash

WINFIELD TWP — State police have identified the drivers injured Friday in a four-vehicle crash on North Pike Road in the township. The wreck slowed rush-hour traffic for about 60 minutes on the well-traveled road.

Minor injuries were reported to the drivers: Aubrey N. Tucker, 29, of North Versailles, Allegheny County; Samuel J. Williams, 23, of Valencia; Gary L. Smith, 64, of Leechburg, Armstrong County; and Jacqueline A. Thomas, 45, of Pittsburgh.

Tucker's passenger, an 8-year-old boy, also suffered minor injuries.

Police said the crash occurred when Tucker drove her car south on Route 356 through the intersection at Winfield Road, colliding with Williams' pickup truck, which was traveling east on Winfield Road.

The car, following the collision, struck Smith's sport utility vehicle, according to a police report, which in turn caused the SUV to hit Thomas' pickup.

Saxonburg EMS treated all five occupants at the scene, and none of them apparently required further medial treatment.

The car, Williams' truck and the SUV were towed after the wreck.

Traffic at the intersection was restricted for about an hour, with the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department assisting police at the scene.

The report said police would file appropriate charges following the investigation; however, as of Monday morning, no citations appeared to have been issued.
