Dance marathon slated Feb. 21-13
The Penn State University Dance Marathon, known as “THON,” will be held Feb. 21 to 23 at Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Centre County.
During the annual event, more than 700 college students stand for 46 hours without sitting or sleeping.
THON has raised more than $168 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital since 1977. Last year alone, $10.6 million was raised.
The donations ensure that 4,000 families affected each year by cancer never see a medical bill. The funds also support children's care at the hospital and research.
More than 16,500 Penn State students have been raising funds all year leading up THON.
This year, THON will use robot technology to connect with children receiving treatment at the hospital, so they can view the event and enjoy its live performances.
