Heavier snow in morning should taper into evening
The county entered a winter weather advisory Thursday night that extends through Friday morning.
The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh is forecasting snowfall during morning commute hours.
“Snow steady at times during the morning commute and then tapering to snow showers later in the afternoon and heading into the evening” is the forecast, said meteorologist Myranda Fullerton of NWS Pittsburgh. Fullerton said the county could see around 2½ inches of accumulation throughout Friday, with northern parts of the county seeing closer to 3 inches.
Fullerton said the main reason for the advisory was due to the timing of the snow and its potential impact on people commuting to work.
“This isn't a significant event,” Fullerton said. “The reason we're expecting it to be impactful is the morning commute and where we're expecting the steadier, heavier snow.”
