Drug charges added after two arrests
Two men recently arrested on bench warrants are facing more charges after Butler police allegedly found them with suspected drugs.
Richard A. Stepp Jr., 40, of Butler and Bryan A. Perri, 30, of Butler Township are charged with misdemeanor possession.
Police said they nabbed Stepp around 1 p.m. Jan. 28 on Pillow Street near Bantam Avenue.
Before being taken to the Butler County Prison for the warrant, he allegedly admitted he had a heroin shooting kit.
A search turned up a syringe, spoon and crack pipe, police said.
But officers also found him with 11 stamp bags of suspected heroin and a plastic bag with suspected crack cocaine, according to charging documents.
He is charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He remains in the prison.
Officers arrested Perri around 4:25 p.m. Jan. 27 at Freemont and Brugh avenues, knowing that he was wanted on a warrant out of Allegheny County.Police said they searched him and found a piece of paper containing suspected cocaine and two syringes.He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Following his arrest, he was placed in the county prison. He was released Jan. 29.Preliminary hearings for the defendants were not immediately scheduled.
