Black 40th anniversary

Rick and Susan Black

Rick and Susan Black of Butler celebrated 40 years of marriage with a family dinner Nov. 3 at Anna Marie's Winery and Cafe in East Butler. The Blacks will travel to Hawaii in December for a seven-night cruise around the islands to celebrate their anniversary.

Black married the former Susan Lawson on Nov. 3, 1979, at Thorn Creek United Methodist Church.

They have two children, Julia (Steve) Shutt, Okemos, Mich., and Keith Black, Dillsburg.

They also have five grandchildren.

The Blacks are both veterans.

He retired from the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System in 2018 and is the former supervisor of the Biomedical Engineering Department.

He enjoys playing his guitars, traveling and time spent with his family.Mrs. Black retired in 2014 from the VA Butler Healthcare System and is the former manager of the Equal Employment Opportunity program and is a former mediator for the Veterans Integrated Service Network, as well as manager of the sterile processing section.She enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling and especially time spent traveling with family.The Blacks are members of First United Methodist Church (Crossfire).
