Stroup 70th anniversary

Ken and Marie Stroup

Ken and Marie Stroup of Chicora will celebrate 70 years of marriage with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Fairview Township Building, 1571 Hooker Road, Karns City.

Stroup married the former Marie Cumberland on Nov. 5, 1949, at the home of the Rev. Joseph Hunter of Hooker.

They have six children, Ken Stroup Jr. of Chicora, Pam Fry of Chicora, Kim Flick of Karns City, Sherry Anderson of Chicora, Theresa Bovard of Harrisville and Michelle Parson of Chicora.

Two other children, Marl Stroup and Randy Stroup are deceased.

They also have 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren are deceased.

Stroup retired from Armco Steel.He enjoys hunting and fishing.Mrs. Stroup retired from the Moniteau School District. She is a former deacon and sessions member and is a choir member of her church.The Stroups attend Concord Presbyterian Church in Hooker.
