Sell 100th birthday
Blanche Anderson Sell celebrated her 100th birthday Sunday. She moved to Concordia Haven II, 112 Marwood Road, 23 years ago and just transferred to Lund Care Center.
Born in Sarver, she married Ernest Sell on July 2, 1952, in Saxonburg.
The couple had two daughters, Kathy Casey of New Kensington and Carole Emery, North Ridgeville, Ohio, and two grandchildren.
She worked in the payroll department at Alcoa in the '40s for nearly 10 years. Her last job before she retired was in sales for Fashion Bug.
A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver, she enjoys playing cards, bingo and visiting with her family and her grandpuppy, Tudee.
An ice cream and pizza lover, she used to sew her children's clothing and knitted and crocheted.
One of the first residents to live in Haven II, she was the model volunteer — planting and watering flowers, pulling weeds, calling bingo, setting up chairs for exercise class and tables for special events in the dining room, making treats for game night and decorating the many Christmas trees in the building.
