McKnight 50th anniversary

Karen and Kenneth McKnight

Kenneth and Karen McKnight of Harrisville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a future family celebration and a winter trip to Myrtle Beach, Arcadia and Tampa, Fla.

McKnight married Karen Ruth Buchanan on Oct. 24, 1969. The Rev. David Kennedy, now deceased, united them in marriage at Harmony United Presbyterian Church, which is now Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

They have two children, Steven Anthony McKnight and his wife, Dr. Robyn McKnight, of Cranberry Township and Sarah Ann (Joshua) Riggenbach of Forestville. They have four grandchildren.

McKnight sold and retired from his business, McKnight Oil, which the McKnights has owned and operated for 23 years.

He also retired after 26 years in the Army Reserves at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was deployed with the 298th Transportation Company, Franklin, as a first sergeant during Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia.

Mrs. McKnight is retired from Slippery Rock University with 35 years of service in the offices of Graduate Studies, Student Accounts, and Admissions.

She enjoys playing her saxophone in the Harrisville Community Band and is a charter member of 55 years. She also plays in Center United Presbyterian Church Orchestra, Mercer Community Band, and has played in the Forest City Municipal Band in Forest City, Iowa.

The McKnights enjoy traveling with the Three Rivers Winnies motor home group, as well as touring the beautiful USA. Their love is helping care and nurture their grandchildren.
