The Summer Food Service Program makes sure all children can eat healthy food at no charge during the summer when they cannot eat at school. This federally funded nutrition program is open to all kids age 18 and younger. No registration is necessary, and all children and teens are welcome.
According to Feeding America, about 14 percent of children are food insecure in Butler County, meaning they have limited or uncertain access to safe and nutritious food.
This summer, meals are being served at various locations around Butler. Locations can also be found by texting “FOOD” to 877-877 or calling 211.
Notices of local upcoming news should be received by the Community Department one week in advance of the event. Entries should include the name and phone number of the person providing the information and be sent to: P.O. Box 271, Butler, PA 16003, or community@butlereagle.com.
