A free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will feature Specialty Outdoors: Birds, Mammals & More at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Oddfellows Shelter. Programs begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 15 (no program July 4). AL-Mazing Magic is scheduled July 11in the Oddfellows Shelter. Call Butler County Parks and Recreation at 724-284-5383.
Moraine State Park will host a program on Purple Martins 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at pavilion 6 at McDanels Launch area. An International Mud Day Celebration is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Beach on the North Shore. And a family fishing program is set for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Bear Run on the South Shore.
McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, will host a Salamander Safari at 4 p.m. July 6 from the Hell’s Hollow Trail parking lot. The gristmill is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Tours are given at 1 and 2 p.m. Admission is free. Call 724-368-8811.
