Trooper: Woman had drugs in bra

Lisa Wincek

An Erie woman is headed for trial on a charge of stuffing her bra — with a baggie of suspected drugs.

At a preliminary hearing Monday, District Judge William Fullerton ordered 40-year-old Lisa M. Wincek held for court for allegedly bringing a controlled substance into the Butler County Prison last year.

Wincek was booked into the prison Sept. 11 following her arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 308 in Center Township.

In October, she waived the DUI case to court.

At Monday's hearing, Trooper Robert Gambone testified that before he took Wincek to the prison, he asked her if she had any drugs or other contraband on her.

She said she did not. The trooper did a pat-down search and found nothing.

But when she was placed in the prison, a woman guard turned up a plastic baggie with a brown substance in the defendant's bra, Gambone said.

The police crime lab in Westmoreland County subsequently analyzed the substance and allegedly found that it contained 0.87 grams of heroin and fentanyl.

On cross-examination, Wincek's attorney, Joseph Kecskemethy, asked Gambone about his questioning of Wincek following the DUI.

“I asked if she had anything on her,” the trooper said.

Kecskemethy also inquired about the level of Wincek's impairment. Gambone said she was “extremely intoxicated.”

She was so impaired, the trooper testified, that she thought she was in the state of Virginia when she was pulled over.

Wincek remains free on her own recognizance.
