Space will no longer be a challenge for the North Trails Public Library.

“We are very excited,” said Kathy Kline, library director. “This is the first time we're able to bring programming to this immediate community.”

An open house and dedication for the library's new community room called Billy's Room will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the library, 1553 W. Sunbury Road, West Sunbury.

The room honors its sponsors, Ron and Carol Caporali, whose grandson William K. “Billy” Dellich III of West Sunbury died Aug. 19, 2018, at age 30.

At the time of Dellich's death, the project was beginning, Kline said.

Kline mentioned to Caporali that the room should be dedicated to honor Dellich's memory, which was when the decision was made, she said.

The room was much more than the name “community room,” Kline said, adding it is “Billy's Room.”

“He was a lifelong member of the community,” she said about Dellich. “He as a young man was very generous and community minded.”

The 24-by-24-foot room with its cream-colored walls is carpeted in grayish black carpet with orange streaks and orange trim.

Activities will coincide with the dedication.

13th Hour Entertainment will perform “Beauty and the Beast” to kick off summer. Last year, the performance was canceled because of the weather, Kline said.

The current U.S. flag will be replaced with a new one. In addition, children will be able to sign up for the summer reading program.

Refreshments, including popcorn, hot dogs and cookies, will be available.

Opportunities for more programming are one benefit of the new room, Kline said. The first program called “Taking Care of your Elderly Parents” will take place at 6 p.m. July 16.

The time for the community to socialize symbolizes the library's next phase, Kline said.

“We are not worried about space,” she said, jokingly. “It opens up all kinds of doors for the West Sunbury area.”
