Cruise-A-Palooza returns to downtown Butler this Sunday for its 25th year.

The annual car show moved to the Butler Farm Show grounds in 2015, but will return to Main Street this go around. The event is put on by the local car club The Rodfathers, whose publicity director and website manager Dan Cunningham said this year's show should bring upward of 2,000 cars.

“It's quite a variety,” Cunningham said. “You never know what cars we're going to get.”

It's free to show up with a car, and participants don't even have to register once they arrive. He said they expect 1,500 to 2,000 cars. The show usually floods the street with car lovers, he said.

Most are muscle cars from the 1950s, '60s and '70s. They also get newer cars, including some that turn heads.

“We've gotten Maseratis,” Cunningham said. “We've gotten Lamborghinis.”

Aside from cars, music will feature heavily at Cruise-A-Palooza.

From 11:30 a.m. though 1 p.m., local act Noble Hops will play. Following them, the Mansfield Five plays from 2 to 4 p.m.

Four live DJs will fill Main Street with music throughout the event.

An Elvis impersonator will also be wandering around.

The first 500 cars to show get a dashboard plaque, Cunningham said.

The Rodfathers hold the event each year as a fundraiser. They sell T-shirts and hold a 50-50 raffle all day. They split the money raised at this and other events they host between eight charitable organizations every year.

There will be 15-to-18 food vendors selling grub. Some will be in Diamond Park, and others will be in a parking lot at the corner of North Main and Locust streets.

An additional 20 vendors will be throughout the show selling crafts, car accessories and other goods.

The event lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Main Street will be shut down from Penn to Wayne Street. Cunningham said the road closures will begin around 9:15 a.m. Cars left parked on the street at that time may be towed.
