Interstate crash

An accident was reported around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of I-79 at mile marker 78.8, just before the entrance ramp to Route 228 and Cranberry Township. One vehicle came to rest on its roof in the median. Crews from Cranberry Township EMS and fire departments as well as state police responded. One lane of traffic was maintained with little backup. The scene was cleared just after 3:30 p.m. Calls to state police seeking more information were not immediately returned.

CRANBERRY TWP — A vehicle overturned in the median on Interstate 79 on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident was reported around 2:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-79 at mile marker 78.8, just before the entrance ramp to Route 228 and Cranberry Township. One vehicle came to rest on its roof in the grassy median area.

Crews from Cranberry Township EMS and fire departments as well as state police responded to the accident. One lane of traffic was maintained with little backup. The scene was cleared just after 3:30 p.m.

Calls to state police, the detachment handling the investigation, were not immediately returned Thursday.
