CONNOQUENESSING — A borough man was arrested after state police say he attacked another man with a wrench Friday evening.

Ashton A. Calderon, 25, is facing felony assault and other charges in the incident, which occurred at a home on Rolling Valley Lane in Connoquenessing.

Troopers were called to the home just before 7 p.m. and found the bloodied victim, a 58-year-old man, according to charging documents.

Police said the victim had blood running down the left side of his face. He was also wearing a blood-stained shirt.

When the victim took off his hat, troopers found the source of the blood — a gash on the head. The extent of the injury was not known.

He told police that he was visiting his girlfriend, a 26-year-old woman, at her home when he learned her estranged husband was on his way there to fight him, documents said.

The man was in the driveway when Calderon showed up. They began arguing and the defendant allegedly hit him over the head with a monkey wrench.

Police said the victim recounted that he left the home “because the defendant was going to strike him again,” documents said.

District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned Calderon on a felony charge of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and a summary charge of harassment.

He was placed in the Butler County Prison following arraignment, and released Saturday after posting $10,000 bail.
