A two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Route 422 knocked the motor out of one vehicle and injured a driver, according to police and fire crews on the scene.

The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 422 and Clearfield Road. Both directions of the road were closed until around 5:15 p.m.

“This is a pretty cut and dry one. They collided, that's all,” said East Butler Fire Chief Derek Thompson.

The crash happened between a minivan and a pickup truck hauling a trailer with a farm tractor and side-by-side off-road vehicle.

Thompson said the female driver of the minivan was transported with minor injuries, adding that she was the only person in the vehicle.

The trailer flipped completely over with the side-by-side underneath it.

Thompson said the male driver of the pickup truck and his passenger both declined medical attention at the scene.

The main cause for the prolonged road closure was that the minivan's engine came out of the vehicle during the impact and was leaking fluids in the middle of Route 422, and the farm tractor broke loose from the trailer and was also blocking traffic, Crews from the Herman Volunteer Fire Company drizzled Oil Dry, which they described as similar to cat littler, to absorb the engine fluids.

The accident was being handled by the state police. No names were immediately available.
