52-year-old's death investigated
CENTER TWP — State police are investigating the death of a 52-year-old man found earlier this week at his home. Foul play is not suspected.
Russell E. Whittaker III was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at his home on Brown Avenue, where he lived alone, said Butler County Coroner William Young III.
Friends discovered the body after they had not heard from Whittaker and went to check on him. Young said he was dead “at least a couple of days.”
Authorities said drug paraphernalia was found at the scene and the death was a possible overdose. But Young noted that Whittaker also suffered other health problems.
Police investigators were unavailable Friday.
A Blair County native, Whittaker was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 385 in Butler Township.
