The Pennsylvania Game Commission is holding five Hunter-Trapper Education courses in Butler County in June and July.

The game commission said now is a good time to complete required training for all first-time hunters and trappers because only four courses will be offered later in the year.

The upcoming classes are scheduled for June 3 and 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Summit Township Sportsmen’s Club (must attend both nights.); June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Mars Rod & Gun Club (lunch provided by club.); June 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Peaceful Valley Campground; July 20 from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Cranberry Township Municipal Center (longer course with hands-on skills stations); and July 27 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Valley Dam Sportsman Snowmobile Association.

Online registration on the game commission’s website is recommended for all of these courses. Persons 16 or older can complete training entirely online. This online option carries a $19.50 fee payable upon successful completion of the course. Traditional classroom training at the courses listed is free.
