Pair charged with open lewdness

GROVE CITY — Trysting in the park landed a doting duo in trouble with the law.

Authorities accused the passionate pair of having a sex romp while in a vehicle around 10:15 a.m. May 4 at Grove City Memorial Park on West Main Street.

The two, according to Grove City police, “engaged in sexual relations in plain view of anyone (who) was walking by where the vehicle was parked.”

Police would not say if they received any complaints from park visitors.

Charged Tuesday with open lewdness are Joshua L. Bell, 23, of Harrisville and Payden N. Haines, 25, of Sandy Lake.

Under state law, the charge is graded as a third-degree misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The defendants face preliminary hearings May 29 at the office of District Judge Neil McEwen. No attorney is listed for either Bell or Haines in online court records.
