Two Butler County representatives want Pennsylvanians to be able to carry concealed firearms without a permit.

State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10th, introduced a bill Monday that would eliminate the need for a concealed carry license in Pennsylvania. State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-12th, is a co-sponsor on the bill.

The legislation aims to remove concealed carry permit requirements for firearms. If made into law, Pennsylvania would offer optional permits for citizens hoping to concealed carry in other states while traveling.

The bill rewrites a section of state law on concealed carry licensing to state that such an act can be done “without a license, permission or restriction of any kind from or by this commonwealth or any of its political subdivisions.”

Bernstine represents portions of Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties. Metcalfe represents a portion of southern Butler County.

The bill was announced during the “Protect Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms” rally in Harrisburg.
