Deborah Kay McBride-McAllister

Deborah Kay McBride-McAllister, formerly of Butler, died peacefully on Jan. 1 at her home in Homosassa, Fla.

She was born Jan. 14, 1952, in Sharon, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Marsden “Mickey” Merle McBride and her mother, Grace Audrey (Fred) Sharrar of Evans City.

She graduated from Hickory High School in 1969 and from Clarion University in 1973.

Deb loved her family and her friends and was always there for a hug, smile and a listening ear. She loved Jesus with all of her heart, and she would read His word and journal every day.

She was a gifted teacher of many things and a lifelong learner. She loved crafts, camping, reading, water and snow skiing, owls, nail polished toes, flip-flops, fishing, swimming and biking.

While living in Butler, Deb had attended and was a member of Community Alliance Church.

She volunteered at Katie's Kitchen and at Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Butler.

She was a tutor in Homosassa, Fla. She was the former adult literacy director at Butler County Community College before she moved to Florida with her husband, so they could enjoy their retirement years.

Deborah is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Lon J. McAllister of Homosassa, Fla.; three daughters, Andrea (Eric) Cranmer of Butler, Barb (life partner, Pauline) of Groves, Texas, and Celeste (Scott) Joseph of Butler; three grandsons, Tyler Cranmer, Austin Cranmer and Brandon Cranmer, all of Butler; two brothers, Dan (Pam) McBride of Fredonia, Pa., and Brian (Glennon) McBride of Hermitage, Pa.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and by many cousins and friends.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Marsden McBride.

MCBRIDE-MCALLISTER — A celebration service for Deborah Kay McBride-McAllister, who died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler.There also will be a later service, per Deb's request, at the Green Hills Family Campground, 6270 Barree Road, Alexandria, Pa., in the early part of summer.
