Rock swept by UPJ
JOHNSTOWN — Pitt-Johnstown matched the highest scoring total allowed by a Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team in eight years, Saturday, scoring a 98-84 home victory over The Rock.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for SRU (19-8, 16-4). UPJ improved to 15-12 overall, 10-10 in PSAC play.
Jared Armstrong paced The Rock with 21 points. John Warren II added 18 points. Both had five assists. Nik Cazacu had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Vinny Lasley added 11 points and seven rebounds for The Rock.
The Rock closes the regular season with a 3 p.m. game against Gannon this Saturday at Morrow Field House.
Women
Pitt-Johnstown 65, SRU 61 — The Rock (10-16, 8-12) remained on the bubble for a PSAC Tournament spot with this loss.
SRU is in sixth place in the PSAC West, tied with Gannon. The top six teams in the PSAC East and West make the conference tournament.
Gannon closes the regular season at Slippery Rock at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
Brooke Hinderliter paced SRU with 21 points and five rebounds. Ciara Patterson had 16 points. Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson came off the bench to produce seven points and four rebounds in 14 minutes.
