Harold H. “Hal” Haverstock

Harold H. “Hal” Haverstock, 91, passed away Monday in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 22, 1927, in North Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph Carl Haverstock and Esta Myrtle Baum Haverstock.

Harold proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Ajax and USS Lexington (CV 16).

He was a former Mason in Alliance, Ohio, and a volunteer fireman for the Bradford Woods VFD.

Harold worshipped at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.

He was a man of great inner strength, integrity and resourcefulness; traits that he modeled for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Do it like you mean it” was often his advice when guiding grandchildren and great-grandchildren in various activities.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping and fishing. He also loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Above all, Harold will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Mark (Debbie) Haverstock of Youngstown, Ohio, and Kurt (Christal) Haverstock of Bridgewater Borough, Pa.; his grandchildren, James Haverstock, Beth Smith, Reid, Jillian and Ava Haverstock, James (Jenna) Beatty and Joshua Beatty; and his great-grandchildren, Alex and Emma Haverstock, and Kinley Renee Beatty.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ruth Haverstock, who passed away on Feb. 6, 2017; and his brothers, Richard and Charles Haverstock.

HAVERSTOCK — Services will be held at a later date for Harold H. “Hal” Haverstock, who died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
