Harold M. Pacifico
Harold M. Pacifico, 94, of Butler passed away Friday afternoon at Lowrie Place.
Born June 8, 1924, in Butler, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Gaetana Bonomo Pacifico.
He was raised in Cleveland, Ohio.
Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. During his service, he participated in several major offensives, including the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was at the base of Mount Suribachi when some comrades on the peak raised the U.S. flag in one of the most iconic moments in American history.
Harold owned and operated Pacifico's Upholstering Shop in Butler for many years and then managed the Red Barn Restaurant in Butler for almost 20 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Harold was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by one son, Vincent Pacifico of Erie; three daughters, Kathleen Higgins and her husband, Michael, of Odenton, Md., Mary Spryn and her husband, John, of Butler, and Amy Cecil and her husband, Kevin, of Graham, N.C.; one sister, Norma Pacifico of Butler; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Mary Louise O'Donnell, of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Vero Pacifico, who passed away June 1, 1983.

Pacifico, who died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
