HARMONY — The Harmony Museum will host a flea market to raise money for new windows Saturday.

Suzie Rape, event chairwoman, said the museum has been hosting this market for about eight years.

“We just have it to try to raise money for different things the museum needs,” she said. “It's a volunteer thing. It helps our finances at the museum.”

Currently, the museum is working to put new windows in the buildings, which Rape said will be “quite expensive.”

“We're trying to raise money for that,” she said, “and people just enjoy it. It's a social thing for a lot of people, and they can come and clean out their attics and socialize.”

Rape said the museum previously hosted a few flea markets each year, but interest in organizing it has gone down, so they aren't held as often.

The market will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Stewart Hall, which is adjacent to the Harmony Museum, and it will offer “interesting odds and ends.”

Lunch will be available, Rape said.

“I don't think the weather is cooperating, but at least 19 people are going to set up,” Rape said. “We cross our fingers that everything works. We usually have a good turnout.”

Rape said this year she knows of rugs, coins, paper, glassware, jewelry, antiques, furniture and a small, metal horse collection that will all be for sale at the event.

“It's just a lot of miscellaneous items,” she said.
