A Wish Come True

If we could have a wish come true,

A dream that would come to pass,

We would ask to spend Christmas Day with both of you,

And pray that it would last.

We would run to you and hold both of you close,

We would laugh and smile again,

We would listen so intently,

As you both would tell us how you have been.

When the time was up we would hold you both close

Not wanting to let go,

You both would smile and tell us, “See you soon”

And somehow we would know

That while it is very hard to wait,

One day the time will come,

We will join you both there forevermore,

When we too are called home.
