St. Peter’s Women’s Council Homemade Christmas Cookie Sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 15 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church hall, 127 Franklin St.

[naviga:h3]Egyptian photos, stories shared[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — Sandra Simpson will share photos and stories of her 2015 and 2018 trips to Egypt at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St.

Simpson lived in Egypt from 1980 to 2008.

Photos of Cairo, Tahrir Square, El Khalili (the largest and oldest Arab market in the Middle East), and a Nile cruise will be highlighted. Many ancient monuments and areas in southern Sinai are included.

Simpson’s photos have won numerous awards in both the United States and Egypt.

[naviga:h3]Library plans 2 fundraisers[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — The South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will have its fourth annual cookie walk from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are available at the library and need to be bought in advance. Phone orders are available by calling 724-352-4810.

The library also is auctioning off hand-painted storybook chairs created by local artists. Place bids for the silent auction by visiting the library. Bidding will end at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18.

Hanukkah lunch set at synagogue

Congregation B’nai Abraham, 519 N. Main St., will host a Hanukkah luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the B’nai Abraham social hall. Kosher hot dogs and latkes are on the menu.
