A report of a fight led Cranberry Township police on a chase Monday, resulting in the driver striking another vehicle and facing several charges.

Jacob Paul Finley, 38, of Baden is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude officers, DUI: general impairment, DUI: highest rate of alcohol, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property and summary traffic offenses following the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the area of Rochester Road and Cross Creek Drive in the township just before 5 p.m. Monday for a fight in progress. As they were en route, one of the involved parties left the scene in a gray Dodge Challenger, which they found traveling on Rochester Road at Powell Road.

Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over. But the driver, later identified as Finley, allegedly continued driving. Officers called off the pursuit after witnessing Finley allegedly drive into oncoming lanes of traffic while fishtailing and speeding, the complaint states.

A witness at the scene of the reported fight gave officers a Baden address where Finley might be found. As officers were heading to that location, police said, they were alerted by several witnesses that Finley’s vehicle was seen driving in the wrong lane of traffic on Lovi Road in New Sewickley Township.

Witnesses said as Finley crested a hill, he struck a vehicle, forcing it to drive off the road and into a parking lot.

Officers found Finley at the Baden address, where he surrendered to police. The complaint states he admitted to driving the Challenger and was arrested. The complaint states he was given a series of sobriety tests, on which he “performed poorly.” A blood draw indicates his BAC was 0.153 percent, the complaint states.

Finley was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge David Kovach, who set a monetary bail of $50,000. A preliminary hearing is set Nov. 2.
