CRANBERRY TWP — A new car wash and lighting at a popular soccer facility will be constructed in the township.

Township supervisors approved the measures during Thursday’s regular meeting.

Conditional use was granted for the construction of the car wash at 1335 Old Freedom Road, which currently houses an auto maintenance business. The 1.1-acre plot of land is situated on a dead-end road, according to documents provided to the township.

Titled Premier Car Wash, the 5,226 square foot building will be a mostly automated drive-through operation. Officials noted no changes will be made to traffic patterns in the area.

Supervisors on Thursday also approved a contract to Bronder Technical Services to install field lights on the soccer fields at North Boundary Park.

While the township will pay the $776,000 cost, the amount will be repaid over time by the Seneca Valley Soccer Association. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“This is another example of the great partnerships we have with the various associations throughout the township,” said Dick Hadley, supervisor chairman.

Also Thursday, supervisors voted to spend $102,881 with Horizon Information Services Inc. for audio/visual upgrades in council chambers and the public works training room at the township building. The upgrades include new screens and an improved sound system inside council chambers, as well as equipment to run the system.

Supervisors also approved the purchase of a 2019 Ford F150 crew cab truck for the township police department from Tri Star Ford for $39,570, as well as the fourth year of a contract with ISS Facility Services Inc. for housekeeping services at the Municipal Building for $103,337.66.

The next meeting of the Cranberry Township Supervisors is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25.
