Suspect charged in January crimes
Police arrested a Butler Township man for crimes they said he committed in January.
The arrest came after police obtained search warrants for two phones belonging to David Lee Beilstein, 35, when police claimed he was using the phones to sell stolen items.
Police arrested him recently and his first court appearance will be Nov. 15 on felony charges of burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and unlawful taking.
Most of the equipment stolen was taken during a crime spree in January, authorities said. Police suspect that at the time Beilstein was stealing equipment from sheds and garages.
On Jan. 4, police received a report from a resident on Old Plank Road that several items, including a chain saw and a leaf blower, were stolen from a shed.
According to the police report, police found photographs on Beilstein’s phone of the stolen items that he was trying to sell.
He also was arrested Jan. 15 and accused of breaking into four sheds on Bullcreek Road and Wendell Lane, police said. At the time, they found Beilstein following a two-hour search that began with a call for a man seen walking around a half dozen homes on Wise Road and on Bullcreek Road.
A homeowner walking his dog spotted Beilstein and notified authorities.
Officers tracked Beilstein in the snow through woods and farm fields before his capture.
He was arraigned on four felony charges of trespass as well as six misdemeanor charges of loitering and prowling at night and other misdemeanor charges of agricultural trespass and criminal mischief.
