[naviga:h3]Auxiliary collects winter items[/naviga:h3]
HARRISVILLE — The Harrisville American Legion Auxiliary 852 will conduct a winter item drive Oct. 1- Nov. 10.
Members are collecting socks, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves. There will be collection boxes at the Harrisville American Legion Post, 227 Prairie St.; Family Tradition restaurant, 531 S. Main St.; and the DR Distillery, 1140 Kiester Road, Slippery Rock.
Items collected will be donated to the Slippery Rock and Grove City food banks for them to pass out just before Christmas.

[naviga:h3]Oktoberfest event at Concordia[/naviga:h3]
JEFFERSON TWP — Concordia Lutheran Ministries will stage its annual Oktoberfest celebration featuring a fireworks display by Pyrotecnico from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at Haven I, 112 Marwood Road.
For the children, there will be balloon artists, caricature artist, pony rides, games, crafts, hayrides, and a bounce castle. Children 12 and under will receive free food vouchers.
Music will be provided by the Mikey Dee Polka Band from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Haven I dining room.
Tours of Concordia Haven Apartments will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Concordia Visiting Nurses will host a flu shot clinic, and Haven residents will have a rummage sale.
The Concordia food service staff will prepare a German-themed menu for a fee. A quick food tent will be set up as well as the traditional beer tent.

Cranberry Public Library will offer personalized technology appointments with volunteer Kendall Johnson from 6 to 7:40 p.m. Oct. 3, Oct. 17 and Nov. 7.
Johnson will meet with questioners for 20 minutes to help answer questions.
