WINFIELD TWP — A 39-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday night after his motorcycle crashed on Sasse Road near Cornetti Road.

The man was riding east on Sasse Road by himself on a dirt bike when he struck a deer, according to state police.

Police said they were still trying to identify the man as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and he had reportedly suffered a head injury. His condition was not immediately known.

Emergency crews sent for a helicopter and set up a landing zone at the intersection of Wendy Lane and Cornetti Road, but the airlift was called off due to the fog, police said. The man was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

East Butler Volunteer Fire Department and Herman VFD also responded.
