Lancaster Twp. pays $40K to fire company
LANCASTER TWP — With all supervisors in attendance, the board on Monday released $39,147.32 to Harmony Fire District.
Under Lancaster Township’s previous administration, the department began receiving funds through a 1.5 mill tax on property value, according to Ben Kramer, township manager.
“When it’s collected by the tax collector,” Kramer said, “it is handled and totaled and put into the Harmony Fire District, which provides fire protective services for Lancaster, Harmony and Zelienople.”
In other business, Kramer and board members Christina Senft, Mike Spiker, Mike Woodward and Tom Wearing agreed to attend a required Pennsylvania Right to Know Act training at $10 per employee.
The board also approved making the final payment in the amount of $17,785.48 on a loan with S&T Bank for a Freightliner truck and a credit reduction request for $214,130.37 for Scenic Ridge Partners.
Kramer also said he soon would have updates on the upcoming Four Springs Park construction.
