Thousands of people are expected to visit Evans City this weekend during the borough's 32nd annual Oktoberfest.

EVANS CITY — Friday will mark the start of the 32nd annual Evans City Oktoberfest.

The festival is set to run through Sunday and has historically drawn thousands of the people to the borough to celebrate the town's German heritage while enjoying the many offerings the event has to offer.

“Every year we try to make it bigger and better,” said Marlene Domhoff, festival co-chairman.

Throngs of festivalgoers will gather in the borough to enjoy the event's offerings, watch the parade and spend time together.

This year's Oktoberfest will feature everything from vendors and artisans to entertainers and music, she said.

“We have crafters, food venders, quilt show, parade, car cruise, entertainment,” Domhoff said.

The event also will feature Amish doughnuts, a firefighter's breakfast, a community church service Sunday morning and more.

Activities begin at 10 a.m. Friday and go throughout the day, ending at around 7 p.m.

The festival will pick back up at 7 a.m. Saturday for the Evans City Fire Department's all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, held in the downstairs truck room at the fire hall. Breakfast is $5.

The parade is set for later that morning, with line-up and judging at 10 a.m. on Jefferson street and the start of the parade set for 11 a.m.

Vendors, entertainers and a children's tractor pull is also planned for that day with the festivities closing around 7 p.m.

Sunday, the final day of Oktoberfest, will begin a little later at 11 a.m. with the day ending around 4 p.m. with a drawing to take place after the entertainment finishes.
