The Butler Township zoning hearing board Wednesday rescheduled hearings on a special exception request for an auto detail shop and a variance for a sign to Sept. 4.

Greg Haughey, board chairman, rescheduled the hearings because he was the only board member who attended the originally scheduled hearings Wednesday evening.

The board has three members and an alternate member.

He said he could have conducted the hearings by himself, but it wouldn’t be fair to the township or the applicants.

One hearing is for Water Tower Land Development LLC’s request for a special exception to build a 13,000-square-foot detail shop for the Baglier auto dealerships on a 7.6-acre lot on Comfort Lane, adjacent to the Comfort Inn on Route 8. The property is zoned for business use, but a special exception is needed for the shop.

The second hearing is for Goin’ Postal’s request for a variance to have an off-site sign and interpretation of business sign provisions in the zoning ordinance. The business has a sign on its property on Shockey Lane and another one on adjoining property. The ordinance allows businesses to have one sign on their properties.
