Guest preacher speaks at revival

EMLENTON — The Rev. Garry Bates of Greenville will be guest preacher at an A-C Valley Community Revival service starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford Center, 511 Hill St.

The worship leader will be the Rev. Brenda Conner-Aughenbaugh, worship pastor at Park Hill Church of God in Parker.

Bates began ministry in the Church of God reformation movement in 1976 and was ordained in the Church of God in 1980.

He began evangelistic work in 1977, traveling to a number of states, several Caribbean countries, college campuses and camp meetings.

[naviga:h3]Church will mark 50th anniversary[/naviga:h3]

MERCER — Wayside Community Church, 1911 Mercer Grove City Road, will commemorate its 50th anniversary beginning with a 10:30 a.m. Sunday service including many memories from the past 50 years.

Special music will be featured throughout the service. A celebration potluck dinner will immediately follow the morning program. The public is invited to attend, especially those who have previously attended the church.

The Blue Army at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., will have First Saturday devotions beginning with an 8 a.m. Mass on Sept. 1 followed by the rosary.

A meeting will follow in the Collins Room with the Rev. Nick Argentieri as guest speaker. The topic of discussion will be “The Relationship Between Mary and The Eucharist.”

The Soul'd Out Quartet will be in concert at 11 a.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 221 New Castle St.

New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, 416 Center Ave., will have a free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 8. Everyone is welcome.
