A 66-year-old Butler man was seriously injured Tuesday morning when a pickup truck hit him as he was crossing an intersection, city police said.

The man, who police did not immediately identify, was struck about 8:10 a.m. at East Jefferson and South Cliff streets. He was reportedly bleeding from the face, according to a 911 report.

The man was taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. His condition was not known Wednesday.

Police Capt. James Hollobaugh said Wednesday it was unclear if the man was walking in a crosswalk when the driver, a 30-year-old Karns City man, turned from East Jefferson Street onto South Cliff Street.

The driver stopped after the accident.

The accident remains under investigation, Hollobaugh said, and police have not determined if any charges would be filed.
