The first home in Middlesex Crossing, a residential and commercial development in Middlesex Township, will be finished in about two months.
Middlesex units being built

MIDDLESEX TWP — New residents will soon be moving into the township, as developers finish construction on the first houses in Middlesex Crossing.

Developers have already begun building and the first resident is expected to move in around two months from now.

“There's 15 lots sold already, and there's more coming,” said Chris Kaclik of Kaclik Builders. “The first one should be done within 60 days.”

Kaclik said they expect the final unit to likely be finished in two and a half years. The development will feature around 150 units.

Commercial development is expected to begin in spring of 2019, and developers already have some plans to fill it.

“We have a gas station on the corner, and we're talking to a couple of grocers,” Kaclik said.

They will continue marketing the space as construction continues.

Kaclik hopes to complete commercial development by fall of 2020.

Plans for the project were approved in May 2016 and call for 108 single-family homes and 40 town homes in the southeastern half of the plan, and retail, commercial, and office space along Route 8 and Overbrook Road.

Earlier this year, Kaclik said the focus would be on preparing the residential units first before seeking potential businesses.

The plan received approval for the first two phases of work, with each of the six phases approved individually. Each phase will be preceded by a public hearing.
