Henkel 50th anniversary
Phil and Lynn Henkel of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family trip to Canada in July and a reception at Summit Presbyterian Church Aug. 12.
Henkel married the former Carol Lynn Meiers on Aug. 10, 1968, at Brentwood Presbyterian Church.
They have three daughters, Christy and Terry Thompson of Butler, Kathy and Jason Acquaviva of Butler and Heather and Scott Alter of Bangor, Maine.
They also have seven grandchildren.
Henkel retired from The Associated Press but continues to work, having a part-time job at Lowe's and serving at Summit Presbyterian Church where he has held a number of offices and been the treasurer for more than 30 years.Mrs. Henkel retired from the Cranberry Public Library and now volunteers Wednesday mornings at the South Butler Community Library. She is currently serving on the HIS Kids Christian School board.The Henkels are members of Summit Presbyterian Church.
