A 20-year county detective who also owns a local business has been terminated by District Attorney Richard Goldinger.

Goldinger recently confirmed that Scott Roskovski's letter announcing his retirement was rejected and the detective was terminated over the weekend.

In addition to his former employment as a county detective, Roskovski owns the Switchback MX facility in Clay Township.

An email from Roskovski to Goldinger obtained by the Eagle through a right-to-know request reads “I have made plans to retire August 17, 2018 and therefor give my 2 weeks notice today, Aug. 3, 2018.”

Last week, Goldinger praised Roskovski's two decades of employment at the DA's office upon the detective's prospective retirement, and said Roskovski had been an “extremely loyal employee who would do whatever you asked of him when he was here.”

Then on Friday, Goldinger said “I terminated his employment today based on some new information I received, but I can't discuss (the situation) due to an ongoing investigation.”

Leslie Osche, the county commissioners chairman, said on Friday that additional information presented itself to Goldinger. She could not say what that information is.

“Something changed and it's way above all of our levels, including Rich Goldinger's,” Osche said. “Something is going on that's beyond us.”

Roskovski could not be reached for comment on the matter.
