JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley School District has created a new full-time assistant principal position at Evans City Middle School.

Bridget Miller, a teacher who has served in the district since 1997, was appointed to the position at Monday night’s school board meeting.

The administrative position was created to allow full-time assistant principal coverage at the building, as well as at Haine Middle School. Previously, the position was shared with Haine, requiring one person to travel and work between the two schools.

“This position strengthens our administrative team, allows for a consistent presence at each building and increases the amount of support provided to our young adolescent learners,” said Sean McCarty, assistant superintendent for K-6 instruction. “We look forward to the increased collaboration that will take place across the middle schools.”

Miller will receive a salary of $92,000 with her new position.

“After spending the past 21 years teaching for the Seneca Valley School District, I am thoroughly excited to move into an administrative role,” Miller said. “It will be an honor to work alongside the individuals who have mentored, encouraged and guided me throughout my teaching career.”

For 18 years, Miller taught special education for third and fourth grade students before moving to a fourth grade general education classroom.
