Slippery Rock University has been named one of the best colleges in the Northeast by The Princeton Review.

The review, in its annual compilation of the country’s best colleges, rated SRU among the region’s best 225 colleges and universities. The group doesn’t assign specific rankings to schools. The designations are based on data the review collected through a survey of administrators, staff, students and associated professionals, like college counselors and advisers.

SRU President William Behre called the designation “a great compliment” to the university’s faculty and staff.

“Everyone who works at this institution is dedicated to making sure each of our students receives an excellent education that prepares them for success in life,” Behre said in a news release. “To have that commitment honored is gratifying.”

Students rated the university on a variety of issues, including professor accessibility, campus life and the school’s student body and the quality of SRU’s degree programs.
