A Pittsburgh man was ordered held for court at a preliminary hearing Monday on charges of possession of crack cocaine.

District Judge William Fullerton ordered Marcus Glenn Troupe, 25, of Pittsburgh held for court on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and a traffic violation. A charge of criminal conspiracy was withdrawn.

Butler police filed the charges after pulling over a vehicle Troupe allegedly drove away from a house under surveillance for suspected drug activity on March 24.

Police said they smelled marijuana and Troupe gave permission to search the vehicle.

A plastic bag containing suspected crack cocaine was found stuffed behind the glove box, a small piece of suspected crack cocaine, five bags of suspected crack cocaine and three small containers with suspected marijuana residue, police said. The cocaine weighed about 47 grams, police said.

Troupe also handed over a plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana, police said.

He is free on $75,000 bail.

A passenger in the vehicle, Shakor Wilder, 23, of Pittsburgh waived charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession and conspiracy at an April preliminary hearing and is awaiting trial. He is free after posting $35,000 bail.
