Moniteau senior named Queen of Big Butler Fair
Amelia Brown of Karns City was recently crowned queen of the 2018 Big Butler Fair.
As fair queen, Amelia will reign over activities at the 163rd event, which continues through July 7 at the fairgrounds in Franklin Township. She also will represent the fair at various community events and parades.
The 17-year-old is the daughter of Sharon and Jarod Brown and a senior at Moniteau High School.
Amelia earned a cash award, presented by the Woman’s Club of Mars, for best speech.
Also crowned was Kayley Baker, daughter of Kim and Bill Baker of Butler, as Butler Fair Princess.
Jillian Ranko, daughter of Jacqui and Jim Ranko of Butler, was named Butler Fair Ambassador.
Pageant competitors submitted a written essay, participated in interview and gave a persuasive speech on “Why you should come to my fair.”
The pageant held at the Atrium and the winner was crowned by Shirlann Harmon, the 2016 Butler Fair Queen. Judges were Rebecca Reeb and Tracy Heinlein.
