Rainy road conditions caused a driver to lose control of her vehicle, go off the road and hit a tree along Mercer Road Tuesday.

BUTLER TWP — One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a one-vehicle crash along Mercer Road, which police said was caused by slick road conditions.

The incident occurred at 547 Mercer Road, Butler Township, at 12:41 p.m., according to Butler County 911 dispatch.

Butler Township police said the female driver, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, lost control of her Ford Focus after hitting a puddle that was created by a thunderstorm that blew through the area Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle then hit a tree and came to a stop in the yard of a home. The vehicle was towed.

Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted on the scene.
