BUTLER TWP — An Allegheny County man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with several reported vehicle break-ins in the township's Grandview neighborhood, police said.

A second unknown suspect remains at large.

Officers nabbed Keith P. Reges, 31, of Tarentum about 12:25 a.m. hiding in bushes in the back yard of a home on Vista Drive.

Reges was later arraigned on misdemeanor charges of theft from a vehicle, defiant trespass, loitering and prowling at night, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

Butler Township police Chief John Hays said officers were initially called to Autumn Drive for a report of two males “going through” vehicles in the neighborhood.

He said the investigation determined that at least five vehicles had been broken into and ransacked. Reges was allegedly caught with stolen property that included a small amount of cash and a Pittsburgh Pirates cap.

The defendant gave his name to officers when they found him, Hays said. But he provided no information about the other male.

Reges' preliminary hearing was not immediately scheduled.
