[naviga:h3]Bridge work closes part of Boyers Road[/naviga:h3]

Part of Boyers Road in northern Butler County will close for about five months while two bridges are replaced.

Detours will be posted when the work begins on May 29, the state Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

Construction crews will close Boyers Road between Harrisville Road and Black Road to replace a bridge over Slippery Rock Creek in Marion Township and between Wick Road and Rihel Road in Mercer and Marion townships to replace a bridge over McMurray Run.

Posted detours will direct drivers to use West Sunbury Road, Eau Claire Road, Black Road and Route 8.

The work is expected to be done by the end of October. The $4.4 million project is being done by Clearwater Construction.

PennDOT officials caution motorists to slow down and use caution in work zones, where fines are doubled.
